Today's topic was Camouflage! The ZoomKidz members explored how animal camouflage works and different ways animals use camouflage tactics to survive. We learned that animals use camouflage in order to adapt to the environment, regulate temperature, and to confuse and hide from predators. When asking the kids about some animals they previously knew used camouflage, many of them said butterflies, zebras, chameleons, and rabbits/hares. Some of the resources we used were BrainPop, Live Cams, and Sheppard Software as well as some YouTube videos. First, we used a Grey Owl Live Cam and asked them about their previous knowledge on owls. Later in BrainPop, the ZoomKidz members watched an informative video about Camouflage and took a quiz to ensure their understanding. To end the meeting with some fun, we played a Hidden Rabbit game on Sheppard Software which asked us to find the hidden rabbit and everyone found all the hidden rabbits/hares! Near the end meeting, we watched some cool octopus camouflage videos on YouTube!
