Today's topic was Animals/Habitats! We started off the meeting by conversing about our favorite animals and their habitats. Additionally, we explained the new prize system kids can get by participating. As we moved on to the topic, we discussed various habitats that exist and what animals can be considered house pets. Later, we watched some PBS kids Plum Landing videos that talked about mangroves and deserts. The kids learned a lot of new information about these cool habitats and the animals that live there. After we watched the videos, we talked about what they noticed about those videos and the kids gave some very good answers! Following the video, we played some games that helped us match animals with their proper habitat. On both games, the kids received 100% and were really efficient in matching animals to their habitats when being timed. Lastly, we learned about food chains and made our own food chains with different organisms and species. We ended our meeting by asking the kids for topics they are interested in doing during future meetings, introducing our new google classroom, and if there were any further questions.
