112. Today's Topic on 3-5 ZoomKidz

Today we learned about the history of the Disney Channel on TV. We started off by asking the kids what their favorite part about Disney Channel is, and received a variety of different enthusiastic answers since the kids are big fans! Overall, they love the variety of shows and movies that are on there. Next, we told them about when Disney Channel first started, including how it initially only ran for 16 hours per day! We also talked about a popular show called "Kids Incorporated" that lasted for a whole 9 seasons! We then moved into the more modern development of "DCOMS," or "Disney Channel Original Movies," and talked about some of the popular ones, as well as how they were once only released on DVD. We reached the most modern developments of Disney Channel by showing the kids a video that detailed its history over the last 10 years. From that, we learned about how Disney shows develop according with the times, and adhere to their modern audiences with the topics address. The session was finished off with a couple of quizzes, one where the kids were challenged to find how many Disney Channel shows they knew, and another where they learned which Disney Channel character they're each most like.
