Today's topic was Prehistoric Animals! We first talked about some prehistoric animals and their ZoomKidz pre-assignment, which helped them interact with the topic beforehand! Then, we started talking about some fun facts about various prehistoric animals as well as their geological time ranges. The kids learned so many new facts and were enthusiastic to learn more about prehistoric animals! For example, they were surprised that we only know 700 species of extinct dinosaurs. After we went through all the facts, we watched a small storytime which took us back 64 million years to the time of these creatures. We learned about the food chain as well as evolution throughout this ecosystem. Also, we watched videos on specific creatures in each geological time range. Later we played a game where we had to excavate dinosaurs fossils and learned about the drill used to find these fossils. We excavated fossils from different deep regions of the Earth. Finally, the last activity was a field guide exploration, where we explored many more prehistoric animals facts! We ended our meeting by asking the kids for topics they are interested in doing during future meetings, talking more about prehistoric animals, and answering any further questions.
