Today we learned about how crayons are made! For the occasion, I showed the kids my stuffed crayon I got a few years ago from the Crayola Factory in Pennsylvania. We started off by asking the kids how they think crayons are made. Next, we discussed the steps of the crayon-making process, including what ingredients are needed to make crayons with, what they're mixed together in, and the molds they're poured into. Among the other fun facts we learned, something about the molds is that one mold can make 1,200 crayons at a time; that's 40 pounds worth of crayons! After watching a video about the creation of crayons, we finished off the session by taking a quiz about which color best suits everyone's personalities.
