Today's topics were photosynthesis and cellular respiration! We first started off by asking the kids how they thought those processes worked, based on their names. Next, we discussed the concepts of "inputs" and "outputs," and exemplified the significance of both in photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Then, we went into the process of photosynthesis in further detail, focusing on what it is, its inputs, what types of organisms it occurs in, and the process, itself (including its outputs). After having gone through the same process for cellular respiration, we discussed the similarities and differences between the two. Although they were difficult concepts to grasp, the kids worked their ways through the confusing aspects and figured out patterns in order to understand each process.
