Today's topic was Job Studies! We first talked about some jobs the students may already know as well as their ZoomKidz pre-assignment. Since there are many different jobs out there today's lesson focused today's on the roles of a doctor, a carpenter, and an electrician! We then shared a few brief videos teaching kids the purpose and perspective of each job. We also learned about the variety of tools used for each job such as a Stethoscope which is used by a doctor! The kids learned many new facts and were excited to learn more about each job! For instance, they were shocked to learn that in 2009 there were about 1.5 million carpentry jobs in the world! After this, we played a game that described the purpose and use of 6 different devices often used by doctors. The kids were intrigued to learn the functions of many devices such as an Otoscope which is used to examine the ears! Our final activity was an electricity circuit game where the students learned about the diagram of a circuit and how an electrical switch functions! The kids were thrilled and shared many questions and opinions. We ended today's meeting by asking the kids their favorite job and what they would like to learn in upcoming meetings.
