Today we learned about the different organs of the body! We first thought about which organ was the most and why. They said the brain because it controls our body parts and our thoughts, and the heart because it pumps blood to help us live. We then watched a short clip of Arthur and his different organ, which was really funny to watch but refreshed the kids a little bit about the different organs. Next, we went into detail about each different organ and their functions. For example, we learned that the left side of the lung is smaller than the right because it needs to make room for the heart. Another example we also learned is that the pancreas turns the food we eat into energy for our body. After we learned about each of our different organs, we did a short quiz about all the information we learned to make sure that everyone retained it. We then did an activity where we found out which eye was our dominant eye and also did some organ riddles. Finally, we wrapped up the session by asking what topics would they like to learn in the future.
