44: Today's Topic on K-2 ZoomKidz

Today we learned about Flags! We learned about the different flags of varies countries. We first started the class about talking about what flags represent and why they are so important to our society. We said that not only do they show people what country they are but also what they represent through their colors. 197! 197 flags in the entire world, that's how many countries there are who each represent something different. We talked about vexillology, which means the study of flags, and how flags are symbols. We then continued to talk about how each color means something new, white means innocence, red means power and courage, whereas yellow means wealth. Then we talked about two stand out flags. A plain white flag, and a plain red flag. A white flag means to surrender and stop fighting and come up with a solution, whereas a red flag means danger or anger. Then we talked about a few countries and how their flags look like and what some symbols and colors on those flags mean. We then showed them a video, a country for each letter of the alphabet. Through the video they were able to remember some of the flags and correspond them to the right country. Which was helpful in our next activity. We did a flag quiz! Through the quiz, it showed them a flag and gave them 4 options Through those they had to identify which country the flag represented. This allowed them to match the country with flag and really think about it from the knowledge that was taught during the class.
