62. Today's Topic on 3-5 ZoomKidz

The holiday season is upon us! Our meeting today reflected this in our lesson about just a few of the many existing holidays! The meeting started off with us discussing our favorite holidays and what makes them so special. We then discussed details about specific holidays, those being Dia de los Muertos, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, and Easter. It was great fun to learn about who celebrates each, what determines their date each year, the different symbols related to them, and why they're even celebrated altogether! Since the types of holidays we focused on were a combination of both cultural and religious celebrations, we also took note of the patterns noticed within the celebration of all of them. Finally, we concluded by playing a game where each person picks a holiday symbol that has the same first letter as the last letter of the previous one. Not only was this game a lot of fun, but it also helped the kids recall the significant symbols and traditions we'd discussed earlier on in our meeting!
