Today, we learned about the Guinness World Records! As a pre-assignment, the kids were asked to think of any world records they know of and if they heard about Guinness World Records before. First, we talked about what exactly Guinness World Records was and how it got started. The kids were very surprised to hear that it was started in August 1954 (almost 65 years ago) and it was previously called Guinness Book of World Records. Then, we found out there was a man that has the world record for holding the most world records and it was incredible to see that he has set more than 600 records. After, we talked about how it all started and how crazy the story was! Just in case, the kids ever wanted to break any records in the future, we talked about how records can be confirmed and put in the book. To end the lesson off, we talked about the coolest and/or most famous world records held ever. Some examples were "Tallest Dog Ever", "Heaviest Onion", "Most Pushups in 1 Hr", "Tallest Man Ever", "Oldest Person Ever", and "Most Socks Put On in 1 Min". As always, we ended the lesson with some fun by taking a Buzzfeed quiz that revealed what 2018 world record you broke based on your city choices around the world.
