Today, we learned about Leonardo da Vinci! We first started off by asking the kids what they knew about Leonardo da Vinci. They knew that he was an artist, but didn't really know what paintings he did. We first went over his childhood. We learned that da Vinci was the oldest out of his 12 siblings, and that he started studying art at age 15 under famous artist, Andrea del Verrocchio. We then went over his career, and how the first real painting he painted was called "The Adoration of Magi" and that he build a 16 foot bronze sculpture called "Leonardo's Horse". We then learned about his two famous paintings , "The Last Supper" and "The Mona Lisa". Then, we went over several fun facts about da Vinci. The kids were so fascinated to hear that he was left handed and that Bill Gates currently owns his notebook. We then concluded the class by taking a quiz on what artist you are most like.
